Edge of The Apocalypse: Chapter 29 – The Beginning of Death

“The countdown for the launch will now begin……”

“3……”

“2……”

“1……”

“Launchers activated!”

Destiny had stopped above a mountainous forest, revealing the launchers on its body and shooting out the capsules within it. The capsules were made in an oval shape, and once they had left the ship, their own thrusters activated. Blue jets of light appeared from them as the capsules flew towards their predetermined location.

Allen was in a capsule as well, it was vibrating heavily as it flew, causing the red light that shone on him to shake as he waited. After the capsule had finally reached the ground, the red light turned blue as the capsule opened up on the ground. Taking off his safety belt, Allen jumped off the capsule and looked around.

He was in a forest and his surroundings were far from quiet, he could hear the occasional cries of Dangers far away as well as the loud sound of water, suggesting that there was at least a lake nearby. The ground beneath him was covered in a layer of leaves, as sunlight permeated from the dense treetops above him, leaving little spots of light on the ground.

The weather was neither hot nor cold and with the occasional scent of greenery carried by wind, Allen, who had been in the training hall for a month, was completely comfortable.

He belonged to the wilderness, and in mountainous forests, he was as comfortable as a fish in water.

Quickly surveying his surroundings, Allen noticed an unnatural-looking shrub nearby. Walking over, he noticed that it was made as a disguise to hide the boxes of supplies underneath it. Breaking the unopened seals on the boxes, Allen checked its contents. The boxes were filled with food, water and emergency supplies like hemostatic sprays. Other than that, there were also two automatic guns and ammunition.

Of course, the automatic guns were traditional weapons, not demonic ones.

There were plenty of supplies, fitting for the rewards for the first place. However, compared to the guns and the food, the portable water and emergency supplies were worth more to Allen.

At this moment, the 22 capsules had all reached their destinations. And among them, five of those capsules landed next to a lake. In the fifth capsule, Mike held onto his chest as he walked out. Seeing the other capsules in his vicinity, his eyes turned cold. But his face quickly turned into a bitter smile as the Origin within his body charged into his heart. His face flushed red before turning extremely pale, and he couldn’t control himself as he coughed out a mouthful of blood.

Stumbling forwards, he fell onto the ground as he gasped for air.

This sight entered the eyes of the four children who had left from the remaining capsules, one of them was a large boy that was about fifteen years old. He spat, “Trash.”

To be sent to the same location, these were the children who were at the end of the rankings. While Mike’s original ranking didn’t warrant his position here, after he had been defeated by Allen and injured heavily, his ranking took a hit and dropped to fifth place.

Looking at the current situation, even if he had barely outranked the four children before him, he was extremely weak.

There was an awning next to the lake, and beneath it was a box of supplies. There was only one box for these five children, and it was currently their only source of supplies. Even if there was only one person, this box would’ve only been enough for half a month. It was obvious that this box wouldn’t be enough for five people, and splitting was difficult.

Other than Mike, the remaining children were made up of three boys and one girl. Their eyes shifted between the box and each other, but no one took the initiative to move. After ten minutes, the only girl spoke with a hoarse voice, “Let’s split the food, if it’s into four portions, there should be enough.”

“I agree with Mimi.” The boy as skinny as a monkey raised his hand.

“What about you, Cohan.” Next to the skinny boy, a black boy turned to ask the boy with the sturdiest body amongst them.

Cohan nodded as a smirk appeared on his face, “I’ll agree to four portions, but I’ll take two for myself.”

They didn’t even bother to account for Mike, or even spare him a glance. To them, Mike wasn’t even a threat. So, why would they feed him?

But Cohan’s greediness pissed off the other two boys, and as they were distracted, the girl was already running towards the supplies. Cohan paused before shouting, “Bastard!”

He started running as well.

The remaining boys followed as well, but the girl started shouting, “Kai, Cora! Kill Cohan first or we’ll all die. Don’t worry, I won’t leave. We can split this.”

“Also, I’ll give myself to you two!”

This was undoubtedly an attractive offer for the boys, and they quickly glanced at each other before pouncing towards Cohan.

Mike watched on with a cold expression.

With a grunt, Cohan pulled out a triangular bayonet from each side of his legs, it was about 25cm long and made with a silver material. Seeing his weapon, Cora pulled a dagger from his waist while Kai took out two black copper rods. Connecting the rods together, the weapon extended into a two meter long rod.

With a grunt, Cora pounced towards Cohan while Kai moved to his side. With a laugh, Cohan dropped to the ground, dodging Kai’s attack as he charged at Cora. Unfazed, the black boy’s eyes turned cold as he thrusted his dagger towards Cohan.

Cohan slammed into him in an instant, determining his fate.

His dagger was pushed aside by Cohan’s bayonet as the other weapon pierced and twisted into the boy’s heart. Releasing the boy’s corpse, Cohan could feel a murderous intent from behind him. Tilting his head, the brunt of Kai’s attack slammed on his shoulder.

The children qualified to participate in the Death Ring had three Origin vortexes at least, and this attack was infused with enough Origin to smash a stone apart.

Taking the attack, Cohan felt as though his shoulder was split apart. With a muffled groan, he turned around and grabbed the rod with his bare hand as he thrusted the other bayonet into his body.

“You guys are looking for death!” Pushing Kai’s corpse aside, Cohan turned to see that the girl had already opened the box. She had taken out two bags of food and started to run.

Cohan chased after her, and after closing in a certain distance, he threw his bayonet. A flash of silver light appeared in the sky, flying towards Mimi’s calf. With a shriek, she stumbled onto the ground.

Laughing loudly, Cohan approached her while reaching for her chest.

The girl suddenly turned around, aiming a revolver at him!

A gunshot rang throughout the lake as she shot Cohan’s shoulder, causing blood to spurt outwards. With an angered roar, he slashed at Mimi’s shooting hand, forcing her to release the gun. Grabbing onto her head, he slammed it towards the ground, stunning her.

In a distance away, Mike watched as he dragged Mimi back towards the shelter.

Mimi was slowly regaining consciousness as he pulled her along, and she started struggling as much as she could. However, she was quickly stopped as Cohan stepped on the bayonet lodged in her calf, causing her to cry in pain. Throwing the girl onto the box, he pounced on her and pulled at her pants. With a thrust of his waist, he entered the girl easily.

Mimi screamed, cried and begged, but it was useless. Cohan grabbed at her head as he pounded into her body.

Raising his head for a moment, he quickly noticed Mike, who was smiling coldly at them. Pulling out of her body, he walked towards the boy and kicked at his leg, “What are you smiling at, trash.”

“You’re the trash, understand?” Mike ridiculed.

His face turned red almost instantly as the veins on his neck bulged. Cohan’s fist landed on the boy’s face, sending him towards the capsule, and causing his head to bleed. Pulling him upwards by the chest, Cohan could feel the urge to beat the boy to death.

But suddenly, Mike pounced at him, punching his chest with “pierce”.

Cohan paused, he recognised the piercing punch from Shida but he couldn’t understand how Mike, who wasn’t even able to stand earlier, could execute this attack. Mike’s fist landed on Cohan’s chest, and supported with his Origin, his fist pierced through his body, landing on his heart. After a series of erratic thumping, Cohan’s heart stopped.

Mike smiled cold as he pushed his corpse onto the ground. After pulling himself up as he held onto the capsule, he spat on his body, “See that? I wasn’t wrong, right?”

Mike was still injured, but he wasn’t weak to the point where he couldn’t even walk. His previous fall was just a trick he played to let the others underestimate him. Walking towards the supply box, he pushed Mimi onto the ground and placed the food back into the box. Patting it, he spat, “These are mine now.”

“Save me, please.” Mimi pled as she laid on the ground, “Mike, I know you’re a good person, aren’t you?”

Mike’s body stiffened before he turned to stare at Mimi, his eyes landed on her chest and then her exposed lower body. With a smile, he spoke, “Didn’t you just say that you’d split the supplies in quarters?”

Mimi trembled as she tried to explain, “I……”

“Didn’t you treat me like trash too?” With a grunt, he pounced onto the girl and slammed onto her head, snapping her neck instantly. Panting as he stood up, his eyes were filled with a burning fire as he muttered, “I’m not trash, I’ll prove it to everyone!”
